We are developing Project MIRA, a new kind of electric engine that helps satellites go farther with less fuel.
Who we are
Satellites need an engine to stay in orbit, dodge debris and move to new orbits. Today small satellites must choose between a strong but fuel-hungry engine and an efficient but gentle one. We are working on an engine that aims to be strong and efficient within the limited power of a small satellite.
Project MIRA is in the research and prototype phase. Our performance numbers are targets, and we will share results as we test.
Project MIRA
A compact arcjet-style chamber heats the gas and a cathode.
The hot cathode releases electrons that turn xenon gas into plasma.
A controllable magnetic field pushes the plasma out to make thrust.
